moral injury was first used as a term to describe a type of PTSD in veterans, and it absolutely applies to nurses today. fun fact, at the time, it was also believed the veteran nurses couldn't have PTSD because they were women.

I loathe when management asks “are you burnt out” naw dude I have a moral injury by definition and the only time I get in trouble is when you put me in a position where I’m understaffed and can’t properly monitor and take care of EVERY patient they way the deserve to be taken care of!

I left patient care after 20 years. it was the most incredible feeling to work at a job where I wasn't measured by 8 minute increments of productivity. I miss the noble cause of what I did but my cup was empty and had to choose my own wellness
