So why is the public name different from what the paperwork shows? Judge Joe Brown has even spoken on this, saying Barry Soetoro is the legal name. And let’s not forget Vice President Kamala Harris. By marriage, her legal last name would actually be Emhoff (her husband is Doug Emhoff). But in office, she’s still called Kamala Harris. So here’s my real question: Why is it that the only two people of color at the highest levels of office get to play around with their names publicly, while legally it looks different? Is that right? Or am I missing something? I’m just asking for more insights and open to hearing other perspectives.
