I feed my family of 5 on less than $200 a week. Anyone with an exorbitant grocery bill pays for convenience. Enjoy your convenience, or stop paying for it. Buying unprocessed food will shed ATLEAST 20% off your bill.

That’s impossible :
Buy that meat on sale!!!! Take it home and put it in the freezer right away. Then bring it out when you need it. Passing on the discounted meat blows my mind

Family of 4 here and we spend on average $1200/month on groceries. It’s insane!

you shop sales only. whole chicken for about $12 at Zehrs this week. That's one big meal and the left over chicken can be used for two more meals. And then you make soup. We also have a pasta once a week and another protein source.

family of 3 living in Vancouver on about 72k a year. Doing just fine. Still putting money into savings kid gets to do extra curriculars 🤷

Using the Flipp app to check flyers is a must. Steak is out, including more veggie protein, home baking of essentials, bulk shop when it makes sense and no eating out. Myself with a 21 & 19 year old.

We aren’t doing it! Literally majority of my nurse’s wage goes to groceries for a family of 5! It’s depressing!

Flashfood (loblaws) & Food Hero (safeway) have been my saving grace! we save sooo much money using those apps. I also buy close-to-expired foods and freeze them - especially meat (but only on discount).

What's wrong with the discounted meat? If it's one or two days before best by, you can freeze it when you get home, then defrost when you are ready to use it. Alternatively, buy club size packs of meat when they're on sale, portion them out in vacuum seal bags and store in the freezer. I do this with ground beef and chicken.

Im adding things like red lentils (they cook down and disintegrate) to things like ground beef meat sauce for pasta (bolognese) and beans to other ground beef dishes.

You are planning it backwards. I check the Flipp app to see what meat is on sale this week and then make my plan. Sale shopping is the only way to go.

I found that when I stopped paying for water my groceries came into line. This includes pop, juice, electrolytes, smoothies, ice coffee concentrate… these items add up quickly. I buy more whole ingredients and make more from scratch.

I have 5 kids we grow our own meat and veggies i make alot of things from scratch i pre portion out things like chips and cookies so they have snacks for school. I buy alot when things are on sale and base what we eat that week off of that and its still expensive I dont know how anyone is thriving right now unless you have a fantastic income.
