Wildlife is is more active, crowds are lighter, and the golden light makes everything feel magical. 2. Stay at least 3 nights - Yellowstone is HUGE. If you plan on just visiting one day, you’ll barely scratch the surface. 3. Pack layers - Yellowstone weather changes on a dime. It can be chilly in the morning, hot midday, and storm by evening - even in summer. A good jacket, hat, and rain layer are life savers. 4. Bring snacks and water - Food options inside the park are limited (and expensive). Having your own snacks and lunch will keep everyone happy. And you will NEED water! It’s so dry! 5. Download GuideAlong on the App Store. You won’t regret it! The guide will take you to all the must see places. 6. See the famous spots, but don’t stop there - Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic, and Yellowstone Falls are incredible, but the hidden gems are just as special. Lamar. Alley, Hayden Valley, and Black Sand Baain should not be missed. 7. Give wildlife space - Bison, bears, and elk look peaceful from afar, but can be dangerous. A zoom lens > hospital visit. 8. Take a scenic drive at Golden Hour - Driving through Hayden or Lamar Valley at sunrise or sunset is unforgettable. The light makes the landscape glow, and you’ll often spot TONS of bison, elk, and even wolves moving across the valley. 9. Join a ranger talk - the park rangers are amazing storytellers. Their talks bring Yellowstone to life in a way guidebooks can’t. 10. Leave time to just be - With so much to see, it’s tempting to rush from one stop to the next.
