@clown.saint: My solo-animated indie pilot 'ERSATZ' is currently crowdfunding! Link in bio! - I thought this might be interesting! I started animating in Blender in 2020-2021, but I was just tweening back then. I did know some modelling, but my skill wasn't really there yet, so I did a lot of tricks to animate my drawings. I'd rig puppet pieces and build environments with flat drawings in a 3D space. Eventually, I started to get confident in my actual 3D skills around 2023, when I made the Teras Trials trailer for author Lucien Burr. It still wasn't there yet - and you might be able to tell that the video quality was quite poor. This is because I used to render in AVI instead of PNG. I also made the switch from Cycles to EEVEE around 2024, it just made the animation workflow much, much easier. If i had a bit more resources I think Ersatz could look great in cycles, but I'm happy with how I managed to make it work. My biggest jump in learning was when I started my current project, Ersatz. I definitely think I was out of my depth when I started, but I've since settled into a workflow and I've learned an absolute ton. If you're looking to get better at Blender, you just have to make a lot of projects. Tutorials can be a little dry but if you've got your basics down, then start making stuff!
