This is so real. *I* am emotionally avoidant so I go after people who will never give me what I want. It’s sick.

Ok hear me out WHAT IF…. You are truly addicted to the avoidance and drawn in etc etc etc BUTTTTT you ALSO actually “coincidentally” love the person 🧍♂️behind the avoidance. Which I think is me rn 😭

True. Had to get to a place where I wanted peace in my life & within a few weeks it became very obvious that my relationship was 1 of the things robbing me of that.

You’re right! I’ve been there. When he healed from his avoidances I HATED him. Than I questioned myself and yeah I loved him because of his avoidance.

Therapist explained to me that people that get into rs’s with people with BPD, like the distance a BPD needs in a relationship. Wow. Can’t imagine being there anymore. 10+ years of therapy though. Didn’t come easy.

Yes this!! And I truly think it’s because people have a pattern of seeking that they’re unconsciously addicted to, so an avoidant will let you play out that pattern

We like them because we are also emotionally unavailable just like them, unconsciously we like being with somebody who won't actually fully commit to us and also the hot and cold treatment can create a dopamine dinamic in our brains.

my only question in this is that at the start,he didn't seem to be avoidant (honeymoon) and i fell in love then. the avoidance and the trauma is that kept me waiting for him?

I agree however is not “like” because trust me no one likes to be in the push pull dynamic. For other unavailable people it’s familiar so it feels like home because for an anxious they are used to fight for love outside themselves therefore FAs are their polarity. Thats why it’s so magnetic for both sides.
