I also think lipliner only looks good if you already have big lips 😭

My honest opinion is that contour isn’t for everyone. Or… maybe anyone actually, outside of photographic or video makeup. In real life in broad daylight it really just looks weird.

i dont think i trust contour irl. pictures are fine you can get your angles and no one will know. but irl like surely my side profile looks like i just have a muddy line on it and no one dares to tell me

i think you’re looking too harshly on your face because your second chin contour looked fine

your going down instead of up 😅 always brush contour upwards for lift, then power/blush and setting spray will soften the lines and blend everything together

honestlyyyyyy imo contouring only works when people are intentionally trying to have fake features - like avant garde looks that are designed to look unnatural! It's like overlined lips, they always look visibly overdrawn and fake, which can absolutely be a look!! but it's deffo NOT natural looking

I wholeheartedly hate contour! I do however bronze and i am a fair very cool toned girly. every one says contour should work kn me - it doesn't. bronzer however I can make work

I've seen so many people with tiny straight noses contouring them...to the point their entire nose is brown 🤷♀️very confusing

I agree. It always looks obvious on me. I reckon it only looks good in videos or photos. Have tried so many x

I'm fat and just use contouring to bring dimension back to my face after using foundation and concealer. I just highlight my natural features and don't try to make myself not look fat (because there's nothing wrong with looking fat)

I am convinced not every product or technique works on everybody. Some people just don’t look good with contouring. For example eyeliner doesn’t look good on my hooded eyes no matter the technique I use :(

I’m with you! I do bronzer on the places the “sun would touch” sure it doesn’t remove your double chin but it does kinda work for the cheeks and it takes the eye away from the chin

As someone who dabbles in theatre makeup, there are multiple ways to contour your face based on what features you’re trying to exaggerate. It’s just difficult to know that when most of the people we see doing makeup are contouring for the same features, which many people do not have.

I have Jowls and general softer features. I gave up on contour and embrace blush and highlight. Also Embrace soft features!!!!! enhance what we got💛

My favourite makeup artist is Lisa Eldridge. I've never seen her use contour. She tends to just even out skintone and add brightness.

I love how your ears add emphasis to what you're saying haha! So some of what you're saying is totally accurate BUT you can indeed create more of an illusion of a change in bone structure where there is none in some cases. The problem is you're only using one shade (the contour) and in order to make something more realistic/3D you have to add more shades! Similar to how you can paint to make something look 3D...there's gotta be light, medium, and dark along with artful blending. So it's not impossible. It's just hard!!
