You basically just have to be tall and have some level of hand coordination to play basketball

Also at even a more simple level. It’s just quite simply easier to throw, catch and dribble a ball with your hands versus doing those things with your feet. Love basketball but it just isn’t harder than footy.

This isn’t really a sound argument since you’d have to be one of the .1% of people that are 6’8 (pascal’s height) globally for ur height to kinda make up for your lack of skill and with basket ball you have to provide on both sides of the court to even make it where as football you can be mediocre in defensive side of the game and still be world class because of your attacking ability. And a much more extreme example someone like Filippo inzaghi who lacked in a lot of fundamentals of football and still managed to have legendary career just off his ability to be at the right spots and being able to score.

You’ve got to literally learn to do things with your feet that typically most other sports do with their hands. It’s a bit mad when you think about it. You have jobs to do as well as being athletic as hell these days. It’s not close

Ian Wright is one you could say though. He never played academy or club. It was all street growing up.

Didn’t even mention that majority of footballers who make it pro start at like age 5, get scouted and signed to pro academies it litterally takes your whole childhood and adolescence of constantly training to even have a chance of getting into the English pyramid

Heskey is remembered as an outlier because he only started playing with a club at 13 or 14. Was still playing with his friends before that

Ruud van Nistelrooy was a later bloomer, as was Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose. There’s no story of a footballer picking up football only in his teens tho, as the technique required to make it to the pros is something that has to be drilled in since childhood.

Had this debate a few years ago but it was Rugby or Football. I asked him whats harder running past 7 players and scoring a try or beating the keeper and finding the top bins from 30 yards. Killed the argument dead

you can be as tall wemby and if you have the tech pinned down and the iq you are OK, if you have that and the physicality and skill in football you become great, Basketball is not that impressive compared to football and I tried both and it's like the moon and the stars football is superior to most sports literally

You use your hands to do fine motor-movements in normal life. Your feet are generally used just for walking. Learning how to be skilful with them therefore takes more time.

for basketball you literally have to be 6"4 plus, football you can be any size, look at Messi, Akinfenwa or even Insigne
