With that mileage an EV would be perfect. They would only need to charge once a week, if that. Costs to run would be almost nothing if they could charge from home or work.

Myth that diesel engines are good for short distances. They’re better than petrol over longer distances. And will perform the same if not better still on short runs. Fuel efficiency will be better and car will run for hundreds of thousands of miles if look after as with any car

Diesel is no good for short journeys but as I found out last week in Spain with a new Corolla, hybrid is absolutely useless for long distance journeys. After 900km it was averaging 5.9l/100km which is just shy of 40 MPG. My partners 2014 Citroen DS4 1.6 HDI never goes under 60 MPG and my Range Rover 3.0 V6 diesel will do 42 MPG!!

my golf mk6 tdi stage 2 egr dpf off 333nm using it like a race track daily small trips to job also and it never said even an ouch its been 5 years of abuse

Sold my last diesel as DPF and injector problems look I knew myself they’re okay for flying around for a while but eventually they block up went for petrol again will never go back to diesel

Hybrid petrol cars offer similar fuel economy to diesels without any DPF, EGR or Adblue trouble 👍 no need for a modern diesel unless ur pulling trailers

Our second car does about that and is a 2008 mini cooper 1.6d, we've had it almost 4 years and it's never put a foot wrong. It's all about the maintenance and understanding your car a bit.

Yeah, bought a 3L diesel to commute, then changed job. Now 8 mile commute so it just gets leathered on the motorway a few times a month to keep things ‘clear’ 😂

I drive 43 miles a day to work and back, diesel is perfect for me as it’s mainly on dual carriageways, my mpg is amazing 😁

they're more comfortable to drive most of the time. the torque makes for a more relaxed drive than a ratty little 3 cylinder screamer
