I’m neurotic and it’s my superpower. Tired of demonization of this trait. Let’s discuss channeling energy productively instead

Neuroticism doesn’t equate to negativity. It’s excessive sensitivity

Neuroticism can probably become worse with CPTSD, poor food, stress... etc.

I think I am negative. I just don’t let people see it anymore. I feel like it’s hard not to be negative if you pay attention even a little bit.

You just described “truth tellers”. Nobody likes truth tellers, since time immemorial. Fun fact: even during the Stone Age, truth tellers were killed in their sleep.

Neuroticism is exhausting. At this point in my life I'd rather never feel anxious again and just see what happens.

that is because neurotic people thinking worrying is an investment in failure prevention. but too much worry actually becomes failure acceleration. its like walking on a tightrope. if i told you to walk across a line on the ground u could do it with ease. but if i now put u 1000 feet in the air and tell you to walk between two skyscrapers, youll probably fall because of the fear of potentially falling. the worry actually turns the fear into reality. that doesnt mean dont worry at all. you have to worry a lil bit for the things that matter.

Mask until you can regulate your nervous system. Avoid complaining to random people who are not able to hold space for negativity. Remove yourself from stressful environments as much as possible, and start incorporating techniques for nervous system regulation daily. Restful sleep, optimal nutrition, regular exercise, time spent in nature, and meditation and breathwork practices need to be maintained consistently to temper the impact of dysregulated neurotic traits.

This is so true. I have a friend who is like this and she’s slowly losing friends and her coworkers avoid her. She doesn’t see what she’s doing.

You become neurotic the smarter you get, we have numbing/dumbing mechanism that allow us to cope , when you bypass those neuroticism appears naturally bcs we are not protected anymore against our own delulu. Neuroticism is a sign of high intelligence. People can live in the Matrix thanks to this mechanisms that blur the reality and make it livable. But capitalism will take anything that sets you apart and make it into something negative so you can get back in the line and consume/produce more :))

That explains a lot of what’s wrong with this world. I’m not defending neuroticism, but people only want to hear the good news and never the bad. And when the bad happens, everybody’s looking at each other wondering why the bad thing happened.
