I have long hair but I always do the two bunched arms together, it gets way too tight for me when I do one! Also you can totally get way closer to the root while still positioning it like you had it, you just need to be extra tight and I kind of do a french twist with smaller pieces on top and add a little as I go down, that can help keep it closer to your part. Keep experimenting! I’ve used mine for years and love it, it still came out cute on you even if it wasn’t what you were going for!
