Help was offered by the British and the USA and others but help was refused. Russia finally accepted help from Britain and Norway which was to late the submariners had already perished.

There was a film made about this event, representing the factual events above water (all the countries offering help while Russia pretended nothing was wrong) and a hypothetical account of how the 23 survivors spent those days, in the growing knowledge that they'd never make it back to the surface. It's an excellent film - I'll try and find the name.

i saw a YT video about this the Russian Government had to pay the families alot of money after the explosion and their kids could go to college for free after graduating Highschool
