Yup. Through the entire 17 years, I didn't tell a soul from "my side." I told his family, seeking help, begging for help. And only two times I called the police—first, after he dragged me through the house beating me, and the second, after her attacked my child. After the second time, his family told me how wrong I was, to stop doing it, that it meant I didn't love him. That's when I knew I had to get out. My kids and I weren't safe.
