@bella.dane: I’m not a doctor or a scientist but please consult one of them! I am in NO WAY saying chronic stress is positive, I understand chronic high cortisol is extremely prevelant but wanted to provide a very basic explanation to help others understand what cortisol is and suggest you always consult a professional before believing everything posted online, even this video! 🤍
Wait so is high cortisol fight and low cortisol flight

As someone with adrenal insufficiency (I have to take cortisol tablets twice a day), thank you for spreading this information!! I was having so many issues due to super low cortisol and feel so much better (and less stressed) since I’m taking cortisol medicine. Cortisol is super important and protects us when we are stressed 🙌🏽

I love this. Also, cortisol can increase if there’s anything wrong within the endocrine system (the system of glands that produce all the hormones). For instance Hashimoto’s disease (autoimmune thyroiditis) can cause high cortisol, and so can pituitary tumours or adrenal tumours (these can cause Cushing’s disease). You’re quite right that any concerning signs pointing towards high cortisol should be looking into by a doctor, specifically an endocrinologist because nobody really knows whether they have high cortisol unless they have a 9am blood test, or better still a 24 hour urine cortisol test to actually definitively say either way 😅

To check your cortisol accurately it’s very difficult because it should be checked 4 times a day. I work for a women’s physician and we have constant questions to check this but it’s difficult. If you want to just check cortisol there’s swab kits you can get online that my Dr recommends! Just to help girlies trying to check those levels in an affordable way!

YES YES YES! spot on. thank you for sharing this! i call cortisol & inflammation “the misunderstood mean girls” because they’re both presented as soooo harmful for us, but they’re essential in our bodies! i just saw a patient last friday with hypocortisolism and, like you said, too low is a bad thing & something we def don’t want!
