People should be allowed to tip. We are providing a service, just like when you go to any other establishment. If the salesperson gave you a good service and you feel like tipping, go ahead! Nothing wrong with that. Since you help people save money at the dealership and your clients want to tip you, are you going to say no??

For the record if a deal is taking any longer than four hours, it’s likely something with the customer. I’ve never met a sales person who wants to waste their time.

I mean, to be fair, saying your staff deserves tips in a tipping culture and paying them well can both be true. You can absolutely have a sales person go above and beyond and tipping them is totally reasonable if you want to do it.

Salesmen aren’t needed at all. They have absolutely no purpose. They can’t make deals or give numbers without sales manager approval. Why don’t dealerships hire hourly employees to talk about the car and do test drives, etc. Then you deal straight with the Sales Manager.

see people get it so mixed up. yes most of us are commission but that % is often low amd its literally only on profit in the vehicle not % of whole vehicle. often the online price at my dealership is almost at cost to stay competitive....

I sell cars, and while I would never ask for a tip, I don’t think it’s a far fetched idea IF you are looking at the general tipping era we’re in now, I go to the donut shop to get a donut and they show me the screen for tip when they have done bare minimum while sometimes we are with customers for hours maybe I drive a hour to drop off there car, and again I have been working at a dealer for 8 years and never asked for a tip but if they wanna tip then just let em

i was "tipped" a few times when the buyer found out i made zero money on a super deal they got. while i also got warnings from management for selling said cars... because they made me. i dont condone it tipping. people should just be paid.
