I worked on a broadcast television commercial that was 100% AI generated using text to video. For certain verticals it’s definitely there and growing but still new.

Honestly there’s just a lot of human choice in editing, it’s an incredibly creative job. Also, tools like Opus even which are supposed to cut highlights take a lot of human work to get right.

I built an AI text to video platform used by many major publishers - ESPN, Buzzfeed, Entrepreneur Media, etc. This area is much more nuanced. The turnaround time for editors in Asia to get it right is painful. Agree it's not the cost itself. But you have to get lucky with the right editors and then you have to get the right turnaround times. That said, the T2V tech is not yet at a place where it can rival amazing human edits. It's really for quick faceless videos. I'm still not talking about generative videos here, only the Text-to-Video editing apps.

I think people are just SO resistant to the reality that some of the genAI tools are 100% there - and they're a bit late. But some of the remaining gold mines simply ARE. NOT. 100% TAPPABLE with genAI

💯 It’s useful for B roll, it will eventually be very useful for compositing and other VFX applications. But the resolution is a huge problem still.

Agreed, I do this full time. I am a director of a top marketing company and I have a team of 9 video editors. We are trying to use some of these tools and there are some text overlay and Broll edge cases where it’s viable, but it’s not going to change the game. What do you think about AI editor software? I feel the same here but wonder if you’ve tried anything with more promise.

Agree with some of it. Especially in regards to an end to end solution. I do think there is a marketplace for it on creating an mvp for companies to validate their cost if they want invest in it. Big picture, is it’s not just a video that needs to be created. It’s usually apart of entire strategy or direction the company wants to go in.

Text to video is trying to replace high-end VFX simulation, the type of stuff Hollywood would normally use Houdini for. But that’s an incredibly niche market? There are 30,000 people doing all the VFX for Hollywood, compared to 30 million customers for the Adobe suite
