On the screen, Shamar’s reflection looked wrong—his shadow behind him was standing tall and straight, even though his real body was bent. Then, slowly, the shadow leaned forward, pressing its face against the glass, until the screen went black. The final notification glowed in the darkness: “BC 3000 cycle complete.
