as a mother of two sons, I hope they choose their wives before me as that is scriptural, but that doesn't mean they forget me and have nothing to do with me. I just come in second to his family. that's the way it should be and how my husband shows as an example.

I never understood the moms that catered to the kids more than their partner because after 18 years your kids aren’t going to need you anymore but after 18 years, your partner will still need you.

I think it's a generational trauma thing. the husband didn't see his mother being taken care of by his father so he feels that he needs to make up for that while neglecting his wife & kids. Cycle continues.
