@caoidebarra: Playing Messy Head in Whelans for a show raising funds for @reviving.gaza 💫 Thank you to everyone there for being such a lovely, receptive audience, and for supporting such an important cause 🙏 . My first time performing solo in over a year. I had a gorgeous time, and loved meeting and hearing all of the other acts on the night. Resharing this felt diy tree from last year as you guys seemed to love it! 🎄✨ I started off by tracing out a tree stencil (these are super easy to find on the web or just use a tree shaped cookie cuter) against my piece of olive green felt! I used a heat eraseable pen to trace the tree shape, but honestly any black pen or pencil would work fine with a light hand. Make sure to trace 2 trees so you have a front and back to your ornament 🌲 Next I drew some randomly placed 8 point stars scattered all over the tree. These are super easy to stitch (which bodes well with metallic thread) and have more of an impact than you think! I used just one stand of the DMC light effects thread in E436 (gold) but you can also use the regular 436 DMC shade if you’d prefer not using metallic floss! I found one stand the easiest to work with when using the metallic thread ✨ After fully decorating my front facing tree, I started stitching the two trees together with a basic whip stitch, starting at the right lower tip of the tree. This will make stitching it around and putting Polyfil stuffing in the tree a lot easier! 👌🏻 One you get to the top, add in a peice of knotted yarn (or more thread) to the tree tip between the trees and stitch the top shut, then continue stitching down the other side. Once you've got past the first top third, start adding in stuffing and continue stitching down the side until you finish the other side of the tree. Now you should just have the bottom to stitch, and I would recommend stitching up to the trunk before adding in the last bit of stuffing and stitching it closed & and now you've got a fully finished tree ornament! You can add on beads, charms or more felt shapes to your hearts desire. 🎄✨ #christmascraft #diychristmas #diyornaments
