Is AI the same thing? Instead of spending time and figuring our thoughts out, we outsource the thinking to AI, because it’s quicker?

I feel like staying and finishing your videos is me building resillience, because usually I just roll my eyes at these because they tend to be pretentious and condescending towards the viewers so kudos to you!

wait but the example given was off lowk bc if I need money rn , I’ll take the 50 for today but for the second part since I’m not getting $50 until a year it’s best to put off and get the $100 instead since it won’t benefit be anyways

In finance is best to take the cash today and invest it bc those 100 dollars will be worth nothing in the future. but i get what you mean i just wanted to put my knowledge to use 😁

I was about to say the now v 1y or 5v6y is less bc of instant gratification but the unreliability of the money being there later... then a couple things clicked for me.

I feel like the example is an oversimplification and misrepresentation. Bc the reason most of us would take the immediate money is not instant gratification or wanting to shop frivolously, it's to avoid systems and punishments like missing a payment deadline or making it to the next payday which have immediate and long term punishments, like a worse credit score, limitations on credit cards, higher interest, further penalties and fees etc etc. In a month I'll have received 1-2 paychecks, in a year I'll have an entirely different lease and ideally made enough payments that $100 more or $100 less won't actually make much difference. But the difference between late rent or an overdraft fee can make a bad situation much worse in a very short amount of time and there's very little I can do to come up with $50 in 24 hours with no warning and no savings. For a lot of us, choosing to wait and receive $100 only makes sense without real world external factors or the need of the delayed $100 at all. The reason the marshmallow experiment works as a much better example is because there's no genuine detriment to the children who wait - they must suffer the boredom of waiting for the adult to return whether they eat the marshmallow or don't, and no kid takes a full 20 minutes to eat one, but if they choose to avoid both the satisfaction of instant gratification and the temptation of the treat, they are tangibly rewarded with a second marshmallow and double the reward.
