I find it very difficult/unfair that someone can strive for a specific speciality (maybe mom had cancer, or they had brain trauma before, etc.), work their behinds off towards excelling in medical school— just to not be guaranteed that you’ll be able to complete residency/obtain the passion you held through your life.

is the step exam the USMLE?? I was taking an exam at a prometric center earlier this year and was like “sorry my appointment is so late nothing else was open earlier!” and the proctor says “it’s okay there’s a student here taking a 9 hour exam, we’ll be here 5 more hours anyway” 💀
