Yes, bc that video was incredibly tone deaf and oblivious and based on general consensus, not very "funny". And all the people making the comparisons to the difference in services between you and your dogs, are just trying to bring it to a more conceptual level. $100 per dog is a great price, groomers are underpaid and under appreciated for their work. it is an extremely physically taxing job. you are in no way getting “ripped off”, you’re just insulting groomers by saying that.

Dog grooming is NOT cheap. We have to pay for our equipment, shampoo , our shop, take care of the dogs coat. And if the dogs matted yes that's an addition. Prices also increased since you last been in that business. Dog groomers and hairdressers are different lol 😂

what you said is clearly not a joke, and you are very much backing yourself up in this video. Also, petsmart does pay hourly at least in Canada with comission on top if it surpasses our hourly wage. The majority of groomers are on comission so saying you wont use petsmart due to workers making comission is actually hurting those groomers. At least we have the option to get hourly when customers no show or we have few bookings is better than company's that only pay comission or send you home because bookings are light.

Groomer since 2013 here. I have worked for Petsmart and I currently work for a privately owned salon. At Petsmart we were told to Upcharge and push add ons as much as possible. MOST (not all) private salons are all inclusive and you get everything you could possibly need in one price. (Unless there’s matting, fleas, extra deshedding, teeth) we literally had to make a certain amount of add ins per week or we would get “talked to”. Corporate also over works their employees and pushes them to take 3-4 dogs at once and all that does is stress the groomer and the dogs out. A lot of private salons (again not all) are 1 on 1 and get each dog out between 1-2 hours. I do 100% agree with the commenters that are pointing out what all is done to your pets opposed to your own haircut. And the only reason we get so defensive about that is because at least 3 times a day people complain and throw fits over the pricing. If you have any questions feel free to reach out 🥰

To also add on to your statement on brazilians 😒 No. No, it is NOT harder than dog grooming. The majority of your customers have self-control and come in mostly clean. The majority of my customers come in FILTHY from not being bathed in months, have crap and filth caked onto them, and have no self-control. MY customers scream the entire groom, bite, and fidget the entire time. You charged less because you were doing less. We charge more because we're doing MORE. Do you get shit on on a regular basis? Do you need to wear protective ear gear because your customers can cause hearing loss? Are your customers entire bodies covered in THICK hair that you need to wash, dry, cut, brush, etc etc? I can go on and on. Im not trying to be rude either- this is why we charge more for our services and its disrespectful to suggest a we should charge less. Plain and simple, no disrespect, just clarifying your statement was wrong.

Petsmart is cheaper than most private groomers. So petsmart is definitely not ripping you off. Most groomers are paid by commission only. So that $100 groomers is only $50 in the bank for however many hours they spent on your dog.
