I think from jfk they don’t have as many direct cause from Houston I can get a lot of direct passes

You have to research and fly from their hubs. It works for people who live in their hub cities or cities with a lot of direct flights. JFK isn’t a hub. LA isn’t a hub. Every airline operates like this by the way. Most of their flights fly from their hubs.

One big caveat is you have to be at a major hub (Denver, Atlanta, Cleveland). Everywhere else is going to be slimmer pickings. Others have mentioned using search tools like Search GWP

I bought it, the layovers are ridiculous! But if you have to have a layover in Vegas for a day who wouldn’t love that? Unexpected Free day trip to Vegas
