Agriculture in the US is a complicated topic not enough people care to learn about. There aren't as many farmers as you think there are, in Iowa over 90% of family hog farms have gone out of business since the 90s because farming in the US favors consolidation through industrial farming, made worse by companies like Walmart, Cargil, JBS, Tyson that pit the remaining farmers against each other for the lowest price. This destroys rural economies, and hollows them out. The people left in these areas see that their towns are dying, but have been convinced by Fox News that it's DEMs fault. They have nothing to hope for and nobody is coming to help. Bankruptcy was always the plan for them by commodity traders and large corporations. My home state is nothing like it was 20 years ago and I blame the corporations, not the farmers. I recommend reading "Barons" by Austin Frerick.
