Very curious to see this when it drops. This will act as a test. If this film is profitable then big studios will follow suit; if it tanks it may set back Ai in feature animation

Only 30 million - I thought AI was going to allow young talented directors to realize thier films - $30 million is so out of reach for 99% of directors

I was surprised to read the budget was still 30 million lmao which I think it’s still pretty high for the quality they’re presenting… Klaus was 40 million and it looked a thousand times better

Next evolution, just like CGI replaced hand drawn animation.

If they want me to watch an ai movie, their characters will need to do more than pose at the camera.

Interesting question – will audiences be able to relate to AI characters that aren’t ‘real’? But then, what’s really real? A Tom Cruise jumping out of a plane or superhero movies that are 90% CGI. Hollywood isn’t exactly known for realism, is it?

30 million may sound like a lot but a feature animated film would normally be 150 to 300 million. Also This is not fully Ai made FYI. They have a crew of about 30 and human voice actors. Ai isn’t ready to do it all, at least yet

Besr case scenario is not replacing live action completely but cutting production down in cost and days on set in half. Pay actors and crew to show up and work shorter shoots while Ai does transitions, b roll, second unit, expensive action/locations, vfx ect

Those clips of critters seems so flat. They are locked into limited camera movements and limited character movements. Someone creative could do something with such limitations, but I doubt that's who is getting drawn into Ai projects.

AI characters have never wished me de%d for my political views so they have that going for them. Actors have gone too far over their skis thinking their opinions matter and have alienated half their fan base. They did this to Hollywood.

Patrick, it all comes down to story and engagement. OG Pixar had that in spades, that’s why they became a juggernaut. You may be able to re-create a lot of the visuals of the current CG animated films from the big Studios, but you’re not getting my money unless you tell a story that resonates.
