30,000 tonnes of coal releases about the same energy as 9 kg of pure U-235. In practice that’s roughly a lorryload/one shipping container of nuclear fuel rods versus a whole mountain of coal. Same energy but way more compact.

I think he possibly means after 10 hours and they're only halfway done could be reference to the discharge of a single hold. I was on a Cape Size bulk carrier and offloading definitely was double what the loading was. They still have to drop a bulldozer down the hold as well. Back in 1997 we got $50 per hatch as a cleaning bonus😁.

2 days to load it but it’s really slow unloading at 50% after 10 hours. So 100% would be 20 hours and loading was 48 hours….
