NTA but if she makes ✨just✨ enough to live, she really needs to stop spending money on restaurants and little treats here and there. Maybe take a couple dollars out of every paycheck and put it in an envelope and when she saves enough, use only that 👀 I’ve been broke, and cutting it that close that $20 means rent or not means we need to rethink financial stuff.

I had an ex like this. He’s taking advantage of you he’s manipulating you. He’s going to drain you DRY you will be paycheck to paycheck. He will do this again. Change your card. Break up with him. He is probably doing this to other girls too. My ex is my biggests life regret and the abuse isn’t worth it.

NTA, but I can see boyfriend's mistake being real. I used to use an app called EatStreet and found out it has a bug where it prioritizes saved cards over other forms of pay. It also saved cards EVEN IF YOU CLICKED "NO." So I once tried to order food and the app bugged out at the payment screen, charging my husband's card instead of my PayPal account.

Once I used my bfs card for doordash on accident (he had paid last and we usually switched). I took the cash out of the atm and gave it to him that day (luckily it was pay day). But it’s such an easy solution

So if he was "trying to switch" it then that implies he had the money and just accidentally used the card. IF this is the case and not just a lame cop-out, then send her the money you were trying to use from Venmo. Only logical solution if his story is legit. Otherwise he knew what he was doing and expected OP to just pay for his food.

My ex-husband wanted mortal kombat when it came out in 2019. I was only one working and in charge of our finances. Told him no we need dog food some other important items. Said he'd have to wait till payday (only 6 days). When I went to do the budget on the trip for the stuff account only had $10 remaining and a charge to Playstation. I was livid. His excuse set our divorce into motion. He told me the dogs did it! The dogs made the purchase on the Playstation 🙄
