@dralexgeorge: What does my OCD look like? Thank you for all the kindness and support you have shared since the diagnosis. I hope that by sharing my experience that others will feel seen and perhaps those who have suffered (without realising it could be OCD) might get the help they need. The truth is, I think I have suffered with this on and off since I was a teenager but didn’t think it was OCD because of the picture that’s often painted about the condition. I am not a psychiatrist or therapist so I am just trying to share my experience, so if this video speaks to you please seek professional input. Does what I go through resonate with any of you? Welcome to the over-sharers club people 😂 (probs the adhd) Love, Alex #ocd #mentalfitness #MentalHealth #diagnosis

My ocd always seems to jump out when it’s my birthday or Christmas I get it other times too but I do find it’s worse when it’s meant to be a happy time

I think the actual prevalence of OCD is far greater than what the stats suggest. People are convinced that their theme is real which then prevents them from understanding that something is wrong, despite suffering tremendously. People also don’t want to confess to the nature of their intrusive thoughts because they feel it’s shameful. These poor people are quite literally suffering in silence and utter fear! Spreading awareness about the huge variety of ways that OCD presents itself is absolutely imperative!

CBT has helped ALOT but not cured. I don’t do so much rituals now thank God and I am able to tell my brain I am not my thoughts

Honestly I can be having the best day and boom. A trigger and it's like I'm back in a rumination cycle. It's so scary, lonely and feels like im going mad. Out of a cycle and I can see how untrue it all sounds but the intrusive thought comes along and I am irrational, locked in my own head and feels like life will never get better. It has been terrifying

Hi, I do this but I always assumed it was my adhd and sometimes part of rejection sensitivity. What is the difference between adhd rumination and ocd?

How did you get a diagnosis? My main thing is when I’m spiralling is that I tell myself that I don’t even have OCD and that I’m lying to myself
