It’s so controversial because a lot of babies won’t do what your baby did 🤪 some babies are whaling and unable to self soothe in any capacity

It’s controversial because not every baby goes back down with pats and “shhh”. Some are whaling, some do need the comfort of nursing or rocking, and that’s OKAY and normal. Babies aren’t robots, they are in need of connection.

Almost 11m old won’t take a bink and will only go back to sleep with a bottle.. puts herself to sleep fine for naps and bedtime but won’t stay asleep and wakes 2-3x every single night. Help 😭 her 2 year old sister was a binky baby and did great and is still the best sleeper! Idk what to do?!

“I know it’s because their sleep cycles aren’t connecting and not because they are hungry” I currently have an almost 5 month old and this is so accurate. As moms we KNOW

Just want you to know this video gave me the confidence to sleep train. I did exactly what you did and IT WORKED! It totally works! My baby is 7 months and was waking up so much! Flipped her on her belly and patted her bottom and did the timer method! Two awful nights and now she’s doing sooooooooo good!!! This video played in my head when I was going through it and wanted to give up! But now we’re on the other side and I’m so happy I tried it

I 100% know what you mean about knowing your kids aren’t hungry. If you exclusively nurse, you KNOW

Exactly what I did. EXACTLY. switched her to her crib at 4.5 months and set my timer 5 min then 10 min. Like you said first couple nights rough. And now my 14 month has slept through the night since we transitioned her to her crib. Like… why is this controversial 🫨

I also think that some babies are just better sleepers than others 🤣 you may be blessed in that department!

Infant and toddler sleep consultant here! We share all of the same opinions! Thank you for advocating that just because you sleep train doesn’t mean you don’t respond to their needs! 🫶🏽

It’s controversial because some people have no idea how to understand their kids. I see it every day on this app. Crying isn’t always a code red it’s okay! Boundaries can start from day one and that’s healthy for everyone.

Can confirm this works!! This sound exactly like my experience with my daughter (granted she’s my first but we had the same timeline!) She has slept through the night 100% since 5 months (she’s 11 months) and it was the best thing we ever did. Two maybe three nights of waking and that was it. I will never understand people who say sleep training is cruel. Best thing we ever did for our baby and for ourselves!! My baby LOVES her sleep.

I just tried a modified Ferber method for the first time tonight, my son is 6 months old, and after 4-5 wake ups per night following the 4 month sleep regression we have had 0 wake ups on the first try! I could cry from relief!

What if your baby does wake in the middle of the night and is inconsolable, tears down their face, crying. Do you still do this or would you do something else?

You did such an awesome job explaining everything!!! And I love that you have multiple children that you have done the exact same thing for. I feel like a lot of people say “haha, not my kid!!” But obviously out of 4 kids, they all have different personalities and you highlighted perfectly that staying consistent and knowing your baby is all you need!!!
