I told my parents I couldn’t feel anything and it was scaring me, and I thought I might be depressed. I was given two books about good Christian habits and spirituality and never checked in on again.

Emotional neglect by way of spiritual bypassing is insidious bc those parents can’t see the harm they are causing 😔 it’s heartbreaking to reach for connection and comfort and be away from or turned against

I saw this video a week or two ago and immediately thought of you. She literally spelled it out and was still bypassed 😔 This poor girl has had so much trauma and neglect, I feel so bad for her.

Can you talk about how this looks in sibling relationships where one sibling has become a parent/comforting figure? Like who fills this roll when the parents are gone or disabled and is it realistic to expect it continuously from a sibling?
