ive had my sporty since 13 when it was brand new. 1st bike. keeping it. top heavy on a motorcycle handles better than low center of gravity due to the geometry of things: centrifugal and centripital forces coupled with lean angle allows you to snap in and out. to up sell to a soft tail under the bs of better bike is kind of horse crap. the oh bikers all rode sportster due to rideability, cost, maintenance, availability of parts. the whole girl bike starter bike youll outgrow it came directly from the salesman trying to make higher priced bike sales. dudes a salesman for sure

I bought a 2020 sportster 1200 for a first bike. My son has a 2024 softail standard and the weight difference to me is huge. I struggle to move his bike. So if the sportster is not a good starter what is left that is a mid range harley you arent gonna grow out of anyway?

Hell I ride my 883 on the highway no problem 🤣 ERMAHGERD BUT PASSING POWER!!!! An 883 will do felony speeds. It’s fine. Buy what you like. Also significantly cheaper than a 1800cc monster per month which is not something anybody ever talks about

I started on an 01 883 in '23. almost exactly two years later, I went to an 09 fxdf. having that extra fuel, power, and extra gear makes a huge difference, something I needed about a year into riding lol

My 94 XL1200 is great for a daily driver, gets thru traffic easy… but I’m not about to go on a couple hundred mile ride with it. Too small and I’ll have to put gas in it every 90-100 miles lol

My first and current bike is a 2021 Softail Standard. It had 6477 miles when I purchased it 8/2022. I currently have 35,200 miles on it. Made soo many upgrades. I Love it and Love that I started on my Softail Standard.
