Understanding something once and learning it well enough *for it to stick* aren’t always the same thing. Here are a few more ways Long Term Storage might show up in real life: 🧸Practicing three facts for show and tell but needing a reminder when it’s time to say them in class. 🧮 Using a new math strategy with the teacher on Monday, but needing the steps modeled again on Tuesday. 🔢 Learning a locker combination with support, but needing it retaught across several school days before it *sticks* 🧺 Being shown how to sort the laundry and run a cycle, but needing the process shown a few times before doing it independently. One forgotten fact doesn’t automatically mean a child is having difficulty with Long Term Storage. The bigger question is how much teaching, repetition, and support they need before new information sticks over time. Which example makes the most sense to you or what example do you use when explaining this to families? Share it below so we can all add it to our list 🤗 And if connecting results to real life is important in your conversations with families, our Resource Drive includes a complete CHC handout plus assessment specific resources connecting subtests and indexes to home and classroom examples (no, seriously!) They’re designed to help you simplify complex language and give families and teams information they can actually understand, remember, and use. Check out the link in my bio of everything inside! . . Thank you @uno for the clarification, us counselors appreciate it 🤣 Got to get my haircut thanks to a gift card I got for my birthday from my aunt! Some of my favorites before I left: @Thayers I loveee their rose petal toner @CeraVe to prioritize that spf! @Benefit Cosmetics pore professional is amazing for a smooth layer before makeup @MERIT Beauty blush is something I wear everyday! #schoolpsych #schoolpsychologist #schoolpsychology #specialed #gradschool
