Wow. That’s like construction 101 leave it cleaner then when you got there.

You do great work. My tile guy brings large barrels with bag liners in them, he takes them home, lets the water evaporate and takes the slurry to the dump.

when their is pine needles or mulch I'll dig out a spot and put my water in it and then cover it back over. I'll clean my tools in the bucket instead of spraying them. why are some contractors so messy and careless

I usually ask the homeowner where I can dump the dirty water, that’s the best way to go about it. Worst case if there’s no good area, just take it home with you but bring enough buckets.

I always dig a hole in a flower bed and fill it back in after I clean out my buckets

the thinset will come off a bit tougher than drywall mud but I've seen it done (and removed it myself). paid 30K for a sub to tile a couple bathrooms years ago and when they did the master bath they got it on 5 doors throughout the condo, doors they should never have even been splashing it near. the dude cussed me out in front of the customer because I pestered him until he came back and cleaned it. she fired him on the spot.

I have in my contract for the homeowner to provide a specific wash out area for these types of things. But still need to be mindful of damaging any landscaping for sure. Keeping subs in line with this concept can sometimes be difficult as well.

it is terriable to do yes. but protection, covering, containment. duct collection etc. cost money and fun fact alot of customers dont want to pay for that, they probably went with the cheapest bid, had complaints and next go around he hired someone that was more expensive and got what they sould i.e YOU.
