Eldritch horror has been so misrepresented. It’s not tenticals and eyes that leads to madness, no it’s the SHEER fact that it doesn’t make sense for your mortal brain. An true Eldrich entity should tear the world apart flipping tetonic plates etc and finally as the last human is laying on a rock finally dying they hear endless voices cascading into a single maddening tone “oh there’s my charger” before the entity just fucken disappears. Eldritch horror could legit just be an Eldritch entity that left its “phone” somewhere and now we think we’re hearing gods when in reality it’s just an 5th dimensional TikTok left on repeat

In my DND campaign, my character adopted a crusty white dog that he found chewing on his leg when he woke up one day (he's a skeleton), but it doesn't actually move like any normal creature, instead it aggressively vibrates and no-clips through the ground and objects like a broken physics prop in a video game, all while making the GMod collision sound. Oh yeah, also she's been immune to several boss effects, such as a suffocating aura and fear, and she can bypass creature limits on spells like dimension door. And we were told she isn't a dog. But my character is too much of a goober to care to investigate that further lol. All he knows is that he has a dog and he loves the dog. The rest of the party is mildly terrified when they remember she exists.

a man, possibly perceive to be a handsome man at least conventionally, wearing a tan suit green tie black shoes with a face that seems familiar but you can't distinguish any characteristics from. try as you might you can't distinguish a characteristic because it changes every time you focus on it. he's polite with a voice that rings in your ear like one you've heard before attached to a certain memory that you can't grasp and you struggle and you lose yourself trying to remember where you know him from.

I was actually playing a game the other day where one of the enemies was a giant worm-like monster, and the basic description of it is "It's impossibly long. Whenever it tries to have an end, it just... doesn't" and I love that idea. Like, this thing exists in reality, but literally can't at the same time. That's good Eldritch horror. I hate that it's just been boiled down to 'eyes and tentacles' because early uses of that weren't literally describing the being, it was meant to invoke the human mind trying to comprehend something that it physically can't and kind of filling in the blanks however it can. The heaps of eyes and tentacles was never supposed to be literal
