Used to be a CSM, got off work and did some shopping and got into a line to checkout. Associate on till asked me a question to help her do something and it wasn't something simple so I told her to call the supervisor or manager. Customer started cussing me out saying for me to just help. I said I was off the clock and I wasn't going to be helping because that'd be working off the clock. Manager was called and she told the customer I was correct that it was a fireable offense to work off the clock and I wasn't obligated to do anything because I was a customer at that time. 🤗🤗

Had this happen to me yesterday. Went into work to give my boss an update about my medical leave and hung about to chat with a coworker. I was near the counter and customer asked if I could do a price check. Told him sorry I'm not working. He responded with "oh you don't feel like it!" I ignored him.

I had something like this happen except I was in a different store that I didn’t work at wearing my company’s uniform. They demanded help and I’m like “ma’am I don’t know what you’re looking for, sorry” and she goes “don’t you work here?” And I was like “….no?” And she pointed at my shirt (which is a totally different color than the store employees) and I said “I work for a completely different company. I’m also shopping like you”

I work retail and one day, when I had just walked through the front doors still with my jacket and backpack on, purse over my shoulder, not even clocked in, the second I entered the building a customer recognized I worked there and began asking me questions in regard to MULTIPLE items when I had less than 5 minutes to clock in! I kept trying to tell her I had less than 5 minutes to go set my stuff down and clock in she would just keep on asking me question after question! I was 5 minutes late punching in cause of that!
