The Nepali government banned social media because young Nepali people started questioning how politicians’ children were living such lavish lifestyles. When we dug deeper, we found that their salaries didn’t match their lifestyles — it was all corruption. Once we began exposing and calling them out, that’s what pushed the government to ban social media. That is what caused the protest

The protests in Nepal are not against social media ban, they are against corruption. For years, people have watched politicians rob the country while their children live abroad in luxury, showing off expensive lifestyles online. When young Nepalese started exposing these children on social media and speaking out, the government responded by imposing the ban on social media to silence them. That was the last straw. It broke the patience of an entire generation, especially Gen Z, who are now demanding the end of this corrupt government and the chance for more educated, honest leaders to take their place. This is not about social media ban, it’s about justice, dignity, and a future free from corruption.
