I’m glad I got out of flat rate 3 years ago. I was first introduced to it when I began my journey as a mechanic 4-5 years ago and I knew it wasn’t for me. I’m still a mechanic but not flat rate, only fleet bro

Diesel shops also slow too from what I heard from tool trucks, had to leave flat rate and go to hourly purely because of money

20 years plus of my life. Now I run a warehouse and make almost twice more and I only work 40 hours a week. Don't waste your life working 60 plus hous a week.

@XO Rivk: @XO Rivk: Sir this a young male apprentice mechanic speaking I did complete my mechanic training program because the program was canceled and work as a shop for 3 months only doing oil changes, transmission service, brake changes, and suspension work but most oil changes I want to is have duty mechanic or diesel mechanic is a better choice Than a regular mechanic as in work normally gasoline cars. And I’m not a very strong person and I’m 5,1 in height so I’m not sure about doing heavy duty mechanic so I need ur feedback on what choice to make

You shouldn’t be at a shop that doesn’t offer a guarantee. Even if I do zero cars, as long as I worked 80 hours I’m still walking away with at least $1.5k on the check.

my shop only quotes warranty times.. we get payed well to account for it. but shop rate is stupid high. hard to convince customer an alignment is .7h at 266 an hour...
