Kathmandu, Sept 8 (Bhadra 23) — Tensions escalated sharply on Monday after police stormed the premises of Civil Hospital in Kathmandu during the ongoing Gen-Z protests. Health workers reported that security forces pursued demonstrators into the hospital compound, where they fired tear gas and live rounds dangerously close to the emergency ward. Doctors, nurses, and patients were forced to inhale the gas while treating the injured, creating panic inside the facility. Civil Hospital has confirmed at least three deaths and continues to receive a steady stream of casualties, with around 100 people injured so far. Overwhelmed staff have been referring critical cases to the National Trauma Center, TUTH, KMC, Everest, and Patan hospitals. Despite repeated pleas from medical personnel to withdraw, police remain inside the compound, using loudspeakers to order protesters to disperse.
