Violence is not the answer for sure. For me, it was hard cuz 20 minutes later there was a school shooting in my state (CO) and people died and republicans say nothing? It’s so tricky cuz he said some really evil things and that needs to be clocked, but not with violence of course.

I agree that it is (far past) time to rise above the one-up-man-ship circus and trying to “win” every intellectual/political argument. Intimidation and invalidation triggers the Ego and breeds more hate, anger, and violence whether it comes from the right or left. Time to keep our eyes on the prize and realize that we need to be playing chess not checkers. That said, I get why it is so hard to maintain objecivity in the face of hate and evil. For me it is a constant battle to retain a strategic mindset instead of react with my heart!

Honestly over the years I've noticed they rage bait so much because they're looking for a confrontation. And when you give them one they use it as fuel for their hate. Sometimes its good to just ignore them. Don't feed the troll.

2 things have helped me tremendously: the first is the phrase “be tough on systems and soft on people”, and the second is the knowledge that they have been utterly battered with propaganda. I might want to scream in the moment, but treating them as a potential ally if given the info they need in a language they understand is revolutionary. Othering does just that- it others. They will never see themselves on our side if we can’t allow them to grow in a way that actually works for them. The ones in power are another story 😅 but the cogs in the system primarily need to to see the reality of their existence and the ways they have been impacted by systemic exploitation and hate
