Among all the condolences made by those of celebrity status - especially those with diverging views from Charlie, I believe there is a realization among all that this could very well have been any of them. It is a sobering “come to Jesus” moment for any public figure. This is no game and it’s getting more real by the day. The media and other public figures have been driving the division and supporting - intentionally or otherwise, the hate. The vitriol needs to stop. As Charlie showed in his work, we can have differences, yet discuss them civilly to better understand each other and hopefully find areas of alignment to work towards solutions.
