They literally saw debating him as a fun hobby like this was a rude awakening for them that they aren’t just getting into cute little disagreements these were real arguments about people’s deservingness to live, exist, have freedoms etc. So that’s probably why dean and that other dude were crying because now they realize they’re in too deep and if they want to be an activist like they claim they have to decide if they would stand by those beliefs no matter what

The thing that bothered me about Dean more than his crying was he was acting as if anyone doesn’t feel sad that Kirk passed was a pos. That higher moral ground he was positioning himself in as a person that isn’t marginalized and unaffected by Kirk’s rhetoric is so telling.

I just can’t find it within myself to have empathy for a man that didn’t even believe in empathy…he was THAT evil. The only people I can find myself to empathize with are his children. The fact they were there to witness their father’s death is a tragedy. However, that being said, just bc he was a father and a husband, let’s not forget everything he stood for and all those he hurt.

Dean said he cried cuz he was having a human moment. His best friend was there and could've gotten shot and he felt sorry for kirks kids who were there at the event. while I don't have sympathy for kirk, I feel disgusted at the fact that we live in a world where there is so much hate and violence in the world and Kirk was helping that rhetoric forward. IDK how old Dean is but I don't think he should be getting this much hate for crying.

I mean dean was crying bc Kirk’s kids had to witness that. His best friend was there in person to debate Kirk and he came to the realization that it could happen to him. He even said I don’t think I want to go out and do the debates in public now. Bc he could be next. He’s young and mortality bit him hard. He also saw the video as it happened and he stated Kirk is a bad person and he didn’t feel bad for him he felt bad for his children who witnessed it… I think dean had a normal human reaction. Add on he’s met Kirk in real life so it hit a little close to home for him
