This tragedy is not only about the killing of Iryna. The most terrifying part is that it happened in front of about twenty people — and nobody stood up, nobody shouted, nobody tried to stop it. Their indifference and inaction made them accomplices. Yes, such crimes happen every day. He could have followed her after the train and killed her around the corner. But this happened inside a crowded train, and everyone chose to look away. Now their faces are on video. They will have to live not only with their conscience, but with society recognizing them, pointing fingers, maybe even harassing them. And even if no one says it to their face, neighbors, colleagues, friends will know: he was there and did nothing. And deep down, everyone will think — coward, disgrace, worthless. That will be their punishment — to remain forever the ones who did nothing.
