in fact, his death will further radicalise far right individuals as they will see themselves as marginalised and at danger for their beliefs. no one’s beliefs will change because of this, nothing good comes out of him dying.

I’m glad he’s gone. You’re allowed to feel that without the implication that you think it’s okay for people to be unalived in the street for holding different political views. He used his large platform to incite hatred and violence and ultimately that became the end of him. If there’s any sympathy to be had, it’s for his kids having to watch a live ex*cution (despite Kirk himself advocating for this and that they are more likely to become decent people without him as a father figure) and the young man that will spend the rest of his life beholden to the prison industrial complex.

Go learn about what his wife is on and tell me if you’re still ‘praying’ for his family - interesting why this is the moment you want to use religious language given your overall disdain for it

Does it matter if he held sovereign power or not? Like you said, he held influential impact which was powerful enough to cause harm to marginalized groups.

this isn’t fair- i don’t feel like it’s true to say that people are overestimating the influence of charlie (and his death) when actual officials such as Trump, Vance and Netanyahu are talking about him/his death. Charlie was, at the very least, a notable part of the propagandist machine.

We leftist have to pr as soon as possible otherwise this assassination will be weaponised against leftists by the right where they will be seen as victims and we as oppressors, don’t celebrate his death, focus on the cause and focus on getting right wingers to want stricter gun laws, try to win something for the people out of this

I think you're spot on. Violence against an institution or system (even if individuals die in the process) is one thing. Justifying the killing of an individual private citizen on the basis that we hate what he said sets an incredibly dangerous precedent.

Symbolic violence ends up leading to strategic violence anyway so we’re just talking in circles and playing morality police while the right is ready and willing to resort to violence for their beliefs but whatever

As an American I disagree. I don’t keep up with white conservatives but social media plays a big influence on American politics. It could be argued the far right and trumps success is due to influencers like him constantly scapegoating minorities.

i agree, i dont condemn his death because it was him who died. i condemn it because i know those far more marginalized than him will likely start dying the same way as a result.

We should as a whole stop underestimate the power that social medias hold and how its a tool to influence the mass Yes he didn't have sovereign power but he indirectly impacts it by spreading conservatives and far right ideologies which will incite his followers to vote for the candidates who will exercise said power

Very well articulated, I feel like my own personal morales however are more aligned with vengeance more than justice that’s why I’m fully on board with what he faced, including his family.
