It is sad and I have huge amount of empathy for the child. But, the Captain has to get plane there safe. I don't Second guess 🤷 them. Sounds like a reasonable worry.

yes and young children should not be on planes if they can't handle sitting quietly. there are other ways to travel that don't affect other passengers

I agree, if they let people with screaming babies on board they should allow a disabled child that might about to use headphones or devices to keep them occupied
