POV: You visit Smoky Mountain National Park for the first time This insanely beautiful National Park deserves its own week-long vacation to be able to see and do everything. However, if you don’t have that much time, here are the top things you don’t want to miss. ⛰️ Spruce Flat Falls: This impressive waterfall is a tough but fun hike that is great for the whole family. 1.6 miles out and back, moderate in difficulty, but seriously great views of this stunning waterfall. ⛰️ Look Rock Tower: Kuwohi’s less crowded cousin. While not as tall, the views from the top of this lookout tower are still quite impressive, and the trek up to it is very doable with kids (0.8 miles roundtrip). ⛰️Cade’s Cove: This scenic drive through loop absolutely cannot be missed during your visit to Great Smoky Mountains. ⛰️ Sugarland Visitor’s Center: This popular spot is a great place to grab a souvenir, earn your Jr. Ranger badge, and learn a little about this park. ⛰️ Cataract Falls: Located directly behind Sugarland Visitor’s Center, this is a short and easy trail with a pretty little waterfall as your end reward. ⛰️ Take a drive on the Newfound Gap Road: Take this scenic drive, and stop at some of the overlooks to soak up the view. Make sure to keep your eyes open for wildlife. ⛰️ Mountain Farm Museum: Spend some time exploring this collection of one of the oldest historic log structures in the National Park system. ⛰️ Mingo Falls: Technically located just outside of the National Park, this short but steep trail takes you to a stunning waterfall that is well worth the climb! ⛰️ Alum Cave Bluff Trail: Our favorite trail, this is a beautiful hike that is perfect for kids of all ages. Follow the stream, cross bridges, and climb through Arch Rock to get to the huge Alum Cave at the end.
