I watched him at the Cambridge Union. He was way out of his depth! The students were clearly smarter than him. What’s more his rehearsed arguments and potted zingers fell flat because they didn’t work in the British cultural context.

Why did Lincoln wage the Civil War to preserve the Union and end slavery? Why did the U.S. fight in WWII to defeat and stop Hitler? And why do Republicans constantly repeat “the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun”, which is itself an argument that violence sometimes is the answer? Charlie Kirk’s campus tours weren’t neutral debates. He intentionally spread falsehoods, election lies, vaccine misinformation. Used dehumanizing rhetoric about women, Black people, immigrants, and the LGBTQ+ community. Made conflict a spectacle, and stoked hostility, rather than helping us solve our problems.

I just stumbled in to a live that was very C. Kirk-esque because one of my follows was in it. The comment section immediately told me I needed to submit to my husband as the head of the house and that I should never be a pastor, especially in a denomination that “allows gays to be married”. I don’t know how you have the spoons to engage this. I’m so disgusted by it.
