I saw someone else word it in a way I liked: he deserved to die of old age, just hopefully alone, sad, and forgotten. Instead, he's been made a martyr and quite likely a catalyst for much more violence.

Why don't democrats have a similar organization (you, know something like Turning Point USA but left) that pushes back against this ideologies on campuses? Not American so curious

But imagine if he'd lived another 50 years, how much more damage he would've done.

The counterpoint is: you have no idea what further damage he could have (and probably would have) caused in the future.

If you assume anything the right will do in response they were already planning to do eventually, the world ends up looking the same just one version has Kirk in it and one doesn't.

I've been saying this. The right has a martyr now, there's literally no way that somehow turns out to be a good thing for anyone. I don't feel bad for him but I'm terrified of the fallout of and potential retaliation for this event

I wish I could agree, as I don't like violence. But you frame political violence as such that must be avoided at all costs. Unfortunately, political violence is historically the only way for society to change for the better. It's not about what we prefer, it's about what's necessary. How did America become a country? How did Mexico revolutionize? How did France revolutionize? How was apparteid abolished? Charlie Kirk led a movement that deepened the division of our country and used his social power to cause social harm. It's not about retribution, it's about silencing. It's about sending a message to those in power.

his quote on empathy really makes me think, because the people who say they refuse to empathize with him are intern agreeing with him. "no empathy for our enemies"

He was an innocent man. it makes sense if you don’t feel empathy for someone you disagree with, but it doesn’t justify their death.

“I can't STAND the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new-age term, and it does a lot of damage. I much prefer the word compassion, and I much prefer the word sympathy. Empathy is where you try to feel someone's pain and sorrows as if they're your own. compassion allows for understanding." -Charlie Kirk
This was the whole quote. People always cut it off. Only quoting enough to fit their narrative.

i disagree. even without a death like charlie kirk's, the right wing has founded reasons and rationalizations to wage their war against the left. now they just have a martyr, but the oppression and proximity to violence has ALWAYS been present.

Also, I feel like the Democratic Party has been nonviolent in their opposition I don’t understand how ping pong paddles=violence or a call for violence… I’ve seen they say to stand up and speak out but never to attack… so I am a bit confused with that part of your video

this is a great video. i find it insane how quick some people are to feel empathy for a facist. if it was the 1950s i wonder if there would still be have been such a quick movement to condemn what happened. people seem to be so much more accepting of facism today in 2025.
