@oliverknott2020: Almost 40 years old 🇯🇵🚽🐠 🌊🐠 The World’s Most Unique Toilet? Welcome to Hipopo Papa Café in Akashi, Japan – home to a restroom unlike any other. Instead of plain tiles and mirrors, the ladies’ toilet here is surrounded on three sides by a giant aquarium holding about 16 tons of water and 200–300 tropical freshwater fish (Cichlids Lake Malawi) 💡 The idea came from owner Kōichi Miyanaga, inspired by Tokyo’s Sea Life Park. When engineers told him it was impossible, he and his friends built it themselves in the late 1980s. Using double 18mm safety glass and a custom steel frame, they finally completed it after several failures. The total cost? Around 30 million yen – an incredible investment for a toilet. 📅 The café itself opened in 1985, and since then this toilet has become a cult attraction.
