@sammierdgz: Moms of daycare kids, how long does this part last? Did I do him a disservice waiting to put him in? 🙃 #daycare #childcare #workingmom #workingmomlife #toddlermom

Hi!!! Daycare infant teacher here! Trust me he probably cries for 5 mins and then goes to say hi to his friends! Completely normal, it’s a new world for them but they have so much fun and learn so much at that age!

I ran a home daycare for years. Drop, kiss, goodbye, leave aka drop and run! It’s the easiest on the kids once you are ‘out of sight, out of mind’.

Have you ever thought to drop him off and wait outside the door for a bit to see if the crying stops. I work as a toddler teacher and honestly

My baby started too a little over 2.5, it took her a month to fully adjust. Now she goes to her teacher by herself without crying😅 but its a home daycare so Idk if that makes a difference

I put my daughter in daycare too around 19 months and she cried which broke my heart but they send pictures of her playing by the time I get home. She cried for maybe 2wks and now she runs in. It takes time dnt worry!

Tbh they usually stop shortly after drop off. This too shall pass- the socialization will be great for him & the exposure to the germs before kinder age will help him too! Hang in there mama!

As a nanny to 2 toddler boys, I can promise you that it’s harder for you than it is for him (meant lovingly!!) They may cry during drop off, but within seconds they are usually totally fine and excited for the day. Socializing toddlers is SO beneficial for their development, crying is TOTALLY normal and appropriate, and you are doing great!!! ❤️❤️❤

I teach preschool and the best advice I can give is do not boycott drop offs! He needs to get used to you dropping off as well as your husband unless he is planning on doing it the whole year. I’m not sure if this applies to you but lingering is also really detrimental to their expectations of drop off. You and dad need to be consistent with one hug, one kiss, and saying goodbye at the door so it’s easier for him in the long run! Most kids only cry for about 3 minutes before running off to play. I know it’s hard but it gets better!

Read "The Kissing Hand" book with him! Come up with a special goodbye routine - our son does "hug, kiss, high five." We're in our second year of Montessori school (3yo now) and he never cries when my husband drops him off, but gets pretty teary when I drop off. Just know he's probably talking their ear off about all his favorite things the second you're out of sight. Don't go overboard comforting him at drop off - he's watching you to see if he's safe, so you have to stay upbeat and confident in him going in. ❤️It gets better, but only if you keep doing dropoffs too. ❤

It gets easier. I’m a daycare teacher and my son also attends. They cry for a few minutes and then all done.

Our son was the same. Not around kids and stayed with my MIL for his first year. Started daycare in August and drop off has been the WORST up until this week. Now I can’t get him to leave the classroom at pick up lol give him an adjustment period. He was the same at church daycare (only there while we’re at service) and this past week he jumped out of our arms to the teacher, waved and blew us a kiss goodbye!

My 15 month old goes part time and he’s been there a month now and still cries all day…it’s heartbreaking but I’m hoping with a little more consistency he’ll finally acclimate. But yes I have drop off and it’s the worst.

Former childcare Owner/Director of 28 years- if it’s any consolation all children adjust with a good facility- the teacher should keep you posted on his adjustment daily and even send pictures to help YOU adjust too- whether it’s here or kindergarten- they have to adjust- better now instead of a school teacher w/25 crying children

I started my son at 19months. He cried at drop off and cried even harder at pickup for 3-4 weeks. Finally at 4 weeks he was fine and now loves to go. It will get better!!

We have a baby that cries every morning. Literally hangs on to his mama but after 3-4 min he’s completely fine. Most babies are fine they just need time to adjust. ❤

Took ours 2-3 weeks to stop the crying. I feel like it’s harder when they are older when they first start daycare since they are more aware of the new environment vs a baby
