UTI’s are rare in men. Also, what infants are at risk for STI’s???? Why does the USA have a very high circ rate, but the highest rate of STI’s in the western world, while being the only western nation with a high circ rate???

It’s important to recognize that this pediatric urologist earns income performing circumcisions—so while he presents it as healthcare, it’s also part of his business. A fair question would be: how much of his annual income comes from cutting healthy infants?

Is he aware that the AAP policy statement expired in 2017 and has yet to be affirmed or reinstated? Not to mention also how even when said policy statement was initially released, it was thoroughly critiqued and ridiculed by the majority of the first world medical organizations as it is filled to the brim with bias and flaws? including but not limited to how it failed to even acknowledge the anatomical functions of the part being removed in question.

Newborn circumcision is abuse because you are providing a permanent body modification for no medical reason. Male UTIs are rare, circumcision complications are not rare. My son is intact because I don't own his body. My father and baby brother were intact men in the USA. First Do No Harm.

Before my kid was born, my ex and I were agonizing over it. We saw this doc on pbs at the time too and there were all these men going on about how they felt some kinda way about it. Then it occurred to me, my dad had an adult circumcision after is vasectomy and after my brother we as born. We’d both been circumcised (mom was Jewish) and he decided he wanted to match. Anyway, I got to call him and ask, was there any diff blah, blah(?) and he simply said, no just do it. It’s better etc…

No adult should be deciding how much penis or vulva a child gets to keep. Circumcision is a human rights violation. Your body belongs to you, not your parents, not your doctor, not your community or their religion.

So happy I’m cut and I’m 100% sure my sons will be too, because I believe in science and want to do the best for the people I love. I’ll also be vaccinating them. People who get so worked up about removing a vestigial structure as preventative care is wild to me. Physiologically there are no drawbacks besides the discomfort of the recovery; which they won’t remember. Guaranteed our birth was more traumatic than our circumcision and people remember one just as much as the other.

Cosmetic surgeries performed on human beings who are unable to consent is abuse. Doing it to a baby makes it child abuse. Pretty simple

120 comments and 90 likes Makes me proud that people are waking up to the pseudoscience lies. Routine infant circumcision isn't just child abuse, its sexual assault. You can't make a single argument that justifies removing healthy tissue from a healthy baby.
